    • STEAM is an acronym for science, technology, engineering, art and math.

    • STEAM integrates art and design with the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) learning areas.
    • There is a lot of research suggesting that integrating these subjects, especially adding a creative component with art, is beneficial for students and makes sense for the way kids learn.
    • STEAM lessons are usually hands-on and exploratory (you might hear us using the term inquiry-based).
    • STEAM is grounded in the premise that creativity is the basis of innovation, you might not think that art and science would be likely partners, but these learning areas do harmonise together. Both artists and scientists aim to explore and make sense of the world,  While they use different lenses to do this, they are often complementary.
