Frequently Asked Questions

Choosing a school is one of the most important decisions you'll make for your child. While every school offers learning opportunities, Catholic schools provide an education that nurtures the whole child – academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually.

At our school, your child will be known, valued and supported as an individual. We strive to create a welcoming community where students feel a sense of belonging, develop strong relationships and are encouraged to become their very best version of themselves.

Catholic education is grounded in values such as compassion, respect, service, inclusion and justice. These values are woven through everyday school life, helping students grow into confident young people who care for others and make a positive contribution to their community.

Prep students engage with the Foundation Year of the Australian Curriculum through a play-based program that encourages curiosity. In our safe and nurturing environment, children learn through exploration and discovery, supported every step of the way by our caring and supportive teachers. With access to a purpose-built Prep precinct, students build confidence, form friendships and develop the skills they need for a positive and successful transition to Year 1.

To help your child feel confident and excited about starting school, we offer a range of orientation events prior to their first day. These opportunities allow your child and family to become familiar with our school community, meet key staff and begin building connections before their first day. Enrolled families will receive further information about these events closer to the time.

Our school welcomes enrolment applications for all grades at any time of the year.

Applications are open for up to five years before your child is due to commence Prep, allowing you to apply early. If applying early, we'll also be able to keep in touch with your family, sharing important enrolment updates, upcoming events and opportunities to connect with our school community as your child's start date approaches.

St Ambrose’s is a Catholic school and we warmly welcome families from all backgrounds who are seeking a Catholic education within a caring, inclusive community. You do not need to be Catholic to be part of our St Ambrose’s community. In accordance with Brisbane Catholic Education enrolment guidelines, children who are baptised Catholic are given priority of enrolment.

St Ambrose’s offers on-site Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) for children up to 12 years of age, providing families with a convenient, welcoming and engaging place for children before and after school. Managed by Catholic Early EdCare, our OSHC is well regarded by our families as a fun and engaging environment where children enjoy spending time with their friends and participating in activities.

With a large OSHC facility, we are fortunate to have capacity to welcome families who require before and after school care. OSHC operates from 6:30am until 6:00pm, providing flexibility for working families. Vacation Care is also available on-site during school holidays, offering families a convenient option for care throughout the year. Click here to find out more.

If your child is placed on a waitlist, you will be kept informed throughout the enrolment process. If an availability arises, families will be contacted and offered a place where possible.

  • A sibling of a current or past student of the school
  • Students from Catholic families who are baptised or have a demonstrated commitment to the faith within their Parish community
  • A current student of another BCE Catholic school, other Catholic schools or Kindergartens managed by Catholic Early EdCare.

Families are encouraged to review the BCE Enrolment Policy before submitting an application.

We are committed to supporting every student to thrive. Our Student Support Team work closely with families to understand individual needs. Personalised learning plans are developed to support learning, wellbeing and success.
