At St Ambrose's there is a wealth
that is beyond measure.

At St Ambrose's School the community of teachers, parents and other children work together to instil a sense of pride and strong community within the children.

The Staff is a team which, at its core, has a passion for and a commitment to ensuring that the children’s daily experience of school is not only quality teaching and learning but one that gives life; living and celebrating by example the heart of gospel values.

Parents are encouraged to be involved in the life of the school to ensure the children come to appreciate and understand by example, the value of community.

The children of St. Ambrose's  are the 'gems'  who remind us of all that is good and precious in life.

We are a Catholic Primary School that educates 294 children from Prep to Year 6. We have 201 families contributing to our school community. As a school, we aim to provide the children with a variety of skills that allow them to become self-directed life-long learners.

Community News

In summary... Across all areas, in all Year Levels tested, the St Ambrose’s school mean was consistently higher than the Queensland and Australian average. Further, St Ambrose’s students consistently demonstrated solidly in the middle, and strongly in the top bands of achievement. We also have a small % of students in some Year Levels, in some of the areas tested, who fell below the National Minimum Standard. Recognising and supporting these learner’s needs is important, as is supporting the learning needs of all our students.

Where to next... Our challenge is to use this data wisely to inform our teaching and learning. In the next few months, staff will take time to look more closely at individual and cohort results. We will have conversations across year levels which help us to understand both the individual student stories, as well as the school curriculum stories which the data can tell.

What a year we’ve had in Year 4! According to the children, (see newsletter) some of the highlights include our overnight stay at Sea Life Mooloolaba, our trip to the Zero Waste Landfill site, Gala Sports and moving our learning forward. During 2016 we have built a learning community who support, encourage and guide one another through the many obstacles that learning new things poses. The children are excited to share with the school community elements of their learning and our classroom environment.

The 2016 Sacramental Retreat Day for Confirmation and 1st Eucharistwas on Thursday 8th of September at the Lavalla Centre Paddington (Old Marist Rosalie). The students had a wonderful day. They met the Vicar General who confirmed them on Thursday and Friday night. Monsgr Peter Meneely spoke to the children on Thursday about the importance of the sacraments and how we celebrate them as a community. The day allowed students consolidate their understanding of the Sacraments and then important part they play in our Catholic life.
